Munshiganj police camp attack: home adviser says joint forces to launch action

Home Adviser Jahangir Alam Chowdhury today said joint forces will soon launch operations against robbers who launched an assault on a newly established police camp in Munshiganj's Gajaria upazila yesterday.
He said this after inaugurating programme of excavation work of Shubhadya canal in Keraniganj this morning.
The home boss said the robbers attacked the police camp with the firearms looted in July and August last year.
Around 50 armed robbers attacked a newly set up police camp in Jamalpur village of Guagachhia union, triggering a half-hour gunfight.
The gang, arriving on 5-6 trawlers, fired over 100 shots and hurled crude bombs at the camp. Police retaliated with 24 bullets.
The outpost had been set up just three days ago to curb robberies and illegal sand lifting in the area.
While addressing the programme, the home adviser warned that no land grabber would be spared in the Shubhadda canal area.
"If action had not been taken, this area would have gradually turned into a road," he said.
"There are many land grabbers here. They must be dealt with strictly and brought under the law. There will be no leniency under any circumstances, and if necessary, since there is a jail nearby, they will be kept there," he added.
