Former member of parliament Kamran Hossain Chowdhury passed away on Wednesday, aged 72. He was suffering from heart ailment.

He left behind his two sons. His janaza was held after Maghrib prayers at Gulshan Azad Mosque on Wednesday, followed by burial at Banani Graveyard alongside his late wife.

Chowdhury was a member of the 4th Jatiya Sangsad from Faridpur-3 constituency during the Ershad regime.

His qulkhwani will be held on Saturday after Asr prayers at the Azad Masjid in Gulshan.

He was a member of the parliamentary standing committee on foreign relations and Chairman of Faridpur District Council with the rank and status of a deputy minister.

He was involved in setting up the River Research Institute in Faridpur and expanding the Jessore Road.

Chowdhury was also a member of the Jatiya Party's Diplomatic Cell and International Affairs Secretary in one faction of the party.
