Call of the wild
A new species of wild dogs has been spotted at Satchhari National Park in Habiganj's Chunarughat. The species is listed as endangered under the International Union for Conservation of Nature and Natural Resources, according to IUCN Bangladesh official Simanta Dipu.
Satchhari range officer Mahmud Hossain informed that the wild dogs were recently spotted during a camera trapping by a team of researchers led by Muntasir Akash, lecturer of zoology at Dhaka University.
Several critically endangered animals have recently been spotted in this 243-hectare Satchhari forest for the first time, according to Rezaul Karim Chowdhury, divisional forest officer of Sylhet's wildlife management and nature conservation department.
