Army personnel will be stationed as a "striking force" at the seven entrances of Dhaka University on the Ducsu election day.

A press release issued by DU Public Relations Office said if necessary, the army will enter the campus and take control of the polling centres until the results are announced.

The decision was taken at a views-exchange meeting with the candidates for vice-president (VP), general secretary (GS) and assistant general secretary (AGS) posts of Ducsu and hall unions, the release said.

There will be a three-tier security system at eight voting centres. Members of the BNCC (Bangladesh National Cadet Corps) and the proctorial team will also be deployed.

No outsiders will be allowed to stay in the residential halls from seven days before the election, and the measures will be enforced through regular patrols. The press release added that outsiders are never permitted in the female dormitories.

The release also said the DU metro rail station will remain closed on the day before the election (September 8) and on the election day (September 9).

It added that the university campus will be completely sealed off on the voting day. Except for valid students, accredited journalists, and those involved in conducting the election, no one will be allowed to enter the campus.

Additional bus trips will be arranged on various routes for students residing off-campus to ensure they can cast their votes, with police providing overall assistance to ensure smooth operation.
