Police recovered the throat-slit body of a cosmetics shop owner from a bamboo cluster in Panchagarh's Debiganj upazila

Police recovered the throat-slit body of a cosmetics shop owner from a bamboo cluster in Panchagarh's Debiganj upazila today.

The deceased was identified as Moklesar Rahman, 35, son of Shahab Uddin of Dhanmandal Molanipara village in the same upazila.

Quoting family members and locals, Debiganj Police Station chief Sohel Rana said over the phone that Moklesar had opened a cosmetics shop at Khochabari Bazar near his village about a week ago, on the day of Eid-ul-Azha.

Around 10:00pm yesterday, he left the shop on his motorcycle and did not return home.

His mobile phone was found switched off, and despite extensive searching, his family was unable to locate him.

This morning, a local woman spotted his body in a bamboo cluster near his house while grazing her goat. His throat had been slit.

Following the discovery, several law-enforcing teams—including the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI), and Debiganj police—began working to determine the motive behind the murder.

The body was sent to the Panchagarh Sadar Hospital morgue for a post-mortem examination, said OC Sohel.

Preparations are underway to file a case in connection with the incident, he added.
