Hurting religious sentiment: Iqbal, 3 others placed on 3-day remand
A Cumilla court today placed Iqbal Hossain and three others on a three-day remand after their five-day remand ended in a case filed over hurting religious sentiment in Nanua Dighirpar in Cumilla.
Cumilla Chief Judicial Magistrate Court Judge Chandan Kanthi Nath passed the order after Criminal Investigation Department (CID) produced Iqbal, Ikram, Faisal and Hafez Humayun Kabir before the court with a five-day remand prayer," confirmed Cumilla CID Special Superintendent of Police Khan Mohammad Rezwan, reports our Cumilla correspondent.
However, CID filed a petition review petition to the court to reconsider its order and allow the five-day remand. As a result, the accused have been to jail for the time being," said the CID SP.
"After the hearing of the review petition, we will again take the accused in our custody for interrogation, "added SP Rezwan.
The court is yet to set a date for the hearing.
Iqbal, who put the Holy Quran inside Nanua Dighir Par puja mandap in Cumilla, was arrested from Suganda point of Cox's Bazar sea beach on October 21
Iqbal and three others were placed on a seven-day remand in the case on October 23. They were put on a five-day remand in the second phase on October 29.
