Ex-OC arrested over mass killing in Uttara during mass uprising

Former officer-in-charge of Uttara East Police Station Muzibor Rahman was arrested today from Dhaka on charge of mass killing in Uttara area during July-August mass uprising.
A team of police arrested him from Uttara area around 3:30pm.
He will be produced before the International Crimes Tribunal later in the day, Gazi Monawar Hossain Tamim, a prosecutor of the tribunal, told The Daily Star.
Muzibor was the OC of Uttara East Police Station during the anti-discrimination student movement when many protesters were shot dead by the law enforcers.
On August 2 last year, he was transferred and Shah Alam, inspector (investigation) of Shahbagh Police took the charge as OC of Uttara East Police Station.
Shah Alam, who was sued over a murder that took place during the movement, was also arrested in Kushtia on January 8.
He was brought to Uttara East Police Station and supposed to be produced before a Dhaka court next day.
But before that, he escaped from the police station around noon. He is still absconding.
