College student stabbed dead in Dhaka’s Mugda
A college student was stabbed to death following a previous feud in Dhaka's Mugda area.
The deceased was identified as Rakibul Islam Ratul (18), a student of Madartek Abdul Aziz School and College.
After the incident took place in Manda area around 7:00pm yesterday (October 31, 2022), a rickshaw-puller took him to a nearby hospital.
As his condition deteriorated, he was rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where he died around 12:45am today (November 1, 2022), said sub-inspector Rezaul Karim Khan of Mugda Police Station.
Ratul's friend Parvez said the problem ensued after a local youth Sajib, who is very closed to Ratul, slapped another youth Rabiul on Saturday (October 30, 2022) following a quarrel. The next day, Rabiul and his friends stabbed Sajib in the back which needed eight stitches.
Both the groups filed complaints with Mugda Police Station in this regard.
"Last evening, Rabiul and his friend called us over phone for a settlement. As we went to Manda area, around 20 youths led by Rabiul and Hira attacked us. We could run to safety but they caught Ratul and stabbed with sharp weapons," Parvez told reporters at DMCH.
Jamal Uddin Mir, officer-in-charge of Mugda Police Station, said they are trying to arrest those involved in the killing.
The body was sent to DMCH morgue for autopsy.
