CJ directs lower courts to dispose of cases over disrupting communal harmony in 90 days
Chief Justice Syed Mahmud Hossain has ordered the lower courts and tribunals across the country to dispose of cases filed for disrupting communal harmony within 90 working days of filing.
The Supreme Court Registrar General Md Ali Akbar issued a notification in this regard today following the directive from the chief justice.
The notification said if the subordinate courts and tribunals fail to finish the trials of those cases, they must send them with an explanation to the SC.
Earlier on November 11, the chief justice while addressing a programme in Dhaka said necessary steps should be taken so that the trial in any case for disrupting communal harmony is completed in 90 working days.
He also said the judiciary maintains a zero-tolerance policy against those trying to damage the country's communal harmony.
