BGB constable killed in Benapole road crash

A Border Guard Bangladesh member was killed and another injured in a motorcycle accident while chasing suspected drug smugglers at Benapole's Putkhali border last night.

The deceased is Mozammel Hossain, 25, a constable of BGB.

BGB Habilder Delwar Hossain, 35, who was with him at the time, was also injured.

21st BGB Battalion Commander Lt Col Khurshid Anwar said on information that a large quantity of drugs were being smuggled from India, they chased suspected smugglers on a motorcycle to Baropota Bazar.

At that time, BGB constable Mozammel lost control of the bike and crashed into a tree on the side of the road and died on the spot, while BGB Habilder Delwar Hossain was seriously injured.

Delwar Hossain has been sent to Dhaka for better treatment.
