5 muggers killed dentist after he resisted, 4 of them say in statements

Five muggers were involved with the killing of dentist Ahmed Mahi Bulbul on Rokeya Sarani of Dhaka on March 27, court sources said quoting statements given by four of them.
Ariyan Khan Ridoy and Solaiman yesterday gave the confessional statements before two Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrates -- Md Atikul Islam and Mehedi Hasan.
They said five of them were present at the scene when Bulbul was attacked with knives.
The metropolitan magistrates recorded their statements after Md Delwar Hossain, an inspector of Detective Branch of Police and also the investigation officer of the case, brought them at their chambers.
The five were trying to rob the victim when he was passing the area in an auto-rickshaw. But the victim resisted and at one stage, they stabbed him with sharp weapons in his thigh which led to his death, they said in their statements before the magistrates.
Two others -- Raihan alias Sohel alias Apan and Rasel Hossain Hawlader -- were also arrested in connection with the killing.
Today (April 5), Metropolitan Magistrate Mehedi Hasan recorded statement of Raihan while Mohammad Sheikh Sadi recorded statement of Rasel after Md Delwar Hossain, an inspector of Detective Branch of Police and also the investigation officer of the case, brought them at their chambers.
They gave the similar information in their confessional statement.
After recorded their statements, they were sent to Dhaka Central Jail in Keranigani.
The gang leader Ripon is on the run since the incident.
Following the incident, Bulbul's wife Shammi Akhter filed a murder case with Mirpur Model Police Station.
Police arrested the four in separate drives in and outside the capital on March 29.
Police recovered Dr Bulbul's mobile and the sharp weapon, used to kill him, from their possession.
