17-year-old kills father for taking away mobile phone in Chuadanga

A 17-year-old boy stabbed his father to death in Chuadanga yesterday for taking away his mobile phone.

The deceased was identified as Dodul Hossain, 53.

Police have arrested his the son in connection with the murder that took place around 7:45pm yesterday in Palashpara area under Chuadanga municipality.

Khaledur Rahman, officer-in-charge of Chuadanga Sadar Police Station, said, "Dodul Hossain forbade his son from playing games on mobile phone and took away his phone. Enraged, Dodul's son attacked him from behind with a sharp weapon during prayers. Locals rushed him to Chuadanga Sadar Hospital in a critical condition, where he succumbed to his injuries."

Dr Tarek Junayed, an emergency department doctor at Chuadanga Sadar Hospital, confirmed that the victim had suffered deep stab wounds, leading to excessive blood loss and death.

OC Khaledur Rahman said that the body has been sent to the hospital morgue for an autopsy, and while no case has been filed yet, an investigation is ongoing.
