Two people were dead as a truck hit a battery-run easy-bike in Satmail area of Jashore Sadar upazila last night. Two others were also injured.

The deceased were identified as Ruhul Amin (30) and Yusuf Ali (39), while the injured are Monowar Hossain (52) and Sohrab Hossain (42), reports our Benapole correspondent.

Injured Sohrab Hossain said that a truck hit the easy-bike from behind in front of Kazi Nazrul Islam College in Satmail area.

"Yusuf Ali died on the spot. Locals rescued us and admitted us to Jashore General Hospital. Ruhul Amin died at 9:00 pm while undergoing treatment," he said.

Confirming the incident, Kotwali Police Station Officer-in-Charge, Tajul Islam, said, "After receiving the news, Sajiali Police Outpost and Highway Police went to the spot and normalised the traffic. However, the truck fled the scene."
