Aminul, Parag joint champs
Khandakar Aminul Islam of Bangladesh Ansars and national junior champion Mehdi Hasan Parag of Titas Club became joint unbeaten champions in the Prime Bank Fifth International Rating Chess tournament at the NSC Auditorium yesterday.
Both of them earned seven points.
Grand Master Ziaur Rahman finished third with seven points. Arman Monir of Titas and International Women's Master Rani Hamid of Bangladesh Biman secured the fourth place with each capturing 6.5 points.
In the last round, Aminul beat Taibur Rahman, Parag beat Saifuddin Lavlu, Zia beat Zaker, Arman beat Mainu, Rani beat Monir, Reza beat Mithu, Alam beat Ariful, Debaraj beat Hanif, Rouf beat Alamgir, Sohel beat Bahar and Imon beat Kazal.
The prize distribution ceremony will be held today at the National Sports Council Conference Room at 4 pm.
SUB-JR MEET
Meanwhile, 23 players were leading the points table with maximum 2 points each at the end of the second round in the 23rd National Sub-Junior Chess Championship at the Bangladesh Chess Federation yesterday.
Third round starts today at 3 pm at the same venue.
