4 robbers injured in fierce gunfight with cops in Bhola
At least four robbers were severely injured in 6-hour-long gunfight with police in the Meghna in Monpura upazila yesterday.
Police said, a gang of armed robbers attacked a patrol team at around 3:00am yesterday near Janata Bazar police camp under Lalmohan police station while on duty in the river near Burir Don point in the upazila.
Being informed, police from Lalmohan and Tazumuddin police stations and three teams from Monpura police station, led by police superintendent Mohammad Moniruzzaman rushed to the spot and locked in a gunfight that lasted for about six hours.
During the gunfight, police fired more than 60 bullets while the robbers fired more than that.
Four robbers were severely injured but the gang fled into deep forest of Dhalchar in Monpura upazila along with the injured robbers, said Khondokar Mizanur Rahman, officer in-charge of Lalmohan PS.
Police seized a trawler along with lethal weapons and a local made gun from the spot at around 10:00am, said Moniruzzaman.
Although locals claimed that four robbers were killed in the gunfight, the SP refused to confirm it.
We are yet to be sure whether the four were killed, he said.
