A joint meeting of Awami League Central Working Committee and the party's advisory council will be held at Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's Gono Bhaban residence in the capital at 5:00pm on September 20, says a press release.
Hasina, also president of AL, will preside over the meet.
Road crashes kill two

An upazila level Awami League leader died when a truck hit his motorcycle on Sylhet-Tamabil highway near Nijpat Government Primary School, reports staff correspondent at Sylhet.
Mokhlisur Rahman Doula, 60, was general secretary of Jaintapur upazila unit.

Teenage boy drowns in Thakurgaon

A teenage boy drowned in the Shuk River of Burirbadth Akcha village in Thakurgaon yesterday.
Toyamin Ulubbi Himu, 15, son of Moin Ulubbi of Islamnagar area in Thakurgaon municipality, was a Class-9 student of Thakurgaon Government Boys' High School.
He went to Burirbadth barrage with three friends to take a bath and due to heavy tide he drowned. Locals recovered his body after two hours, said police.
Man 'killed' by brother in Habiganj

A man was allegedly killed by his elder brother after they locked in an altercation over land disputes in Sarerkuna village under Chunarughat upazila of Habiganj yesterday.
The deceased was Nazir Miah, 30. After the incident his brother Sadek Miah, 34, went into hiding, said police.
Jubo League activist found dead

Police recovered the body of a Jubo League activist from a bamboo-cluster in Rameswapur village under Natore Sadar upazila yesterday three days after he had gone missing.
Police suspect that Arman Ali, 28, son of Babul Hossain of Tebaria area of Natore municipality, were killed following past enmity over share of gambling money, said police.

4 fake detectives held in Tangail

Police arrested four fake detective policemen at the eastern end of Bangabandhu Bridge in Tangail on Thursday night.
The arrestees are Mohammad Kibria and Yunus Ali of Barishal; and Joy Mahmud and Shajahan Miah of Barguna.
A microbus carrying them, a wireless set, two pairs of handcuffs, two fake jackets of detectives and fake notes of Tk 8,000 were also seized from them, said police.
1.7kg of gold seized at Ctg airport

Customs officials seized 14 gold bars weighing around 1.7kg from two passengers at Shah Amanat International Airport in Chittagong on Thursday night.
The officials did not detain Md Sabuj of Comilla and Golam Morshed of Raozan in Chittagong, coming from Muscat by a Biman flight, but seized their passports and filed a departmental complaint under customs act, said Othelo Chowdhury, assistant commissioner of airport customs.
N'ganj Dist Union of Journalists gets new committee

Khandkar Shah Alam and Afzal Hossain Ponty were elected president and general secretary respectively of Narayanganj District Union of Journalists for the session 2014-16 at the union's biennial election in Narayanganj city yesterday.
The union's 33 voters also elected its 11-member executive committee, including Rafiqul Islam Rafiq (vice-president), Ahsan Sadik Shaon (joint secretary) and Bulbul Ahmed Sohel (treasurer).
