Nothing could stop Anwar's success
The news of achieving GPA-5 in this year's HSC examinations has brought both joy and worry for Anwar Kadir, as the boy, once struggling against hardship as a brickfield worker, is anxious about the cost of higher education.
Anwar, who achieved GPA-5 from Business Studies group from Shaheed Syed Nazrul College in Mymensingh town, wants to be a chartered accountant. He hails from Borohit village in Iswarganj upazila.
Anwar lost his father at the age of three. His mother Anwara Begum, along with sons Anwar Kadir and Anwar Hossain went to Comilla to work as a domestic help at the house of Firoj Ahmed. With the help of kind-hearted Firoj, Anwar Kadir read up to class eight at Rasulpur Bahumukhi High School there.
“Later I went to my poor maternal uncle's house at Borohit in Iswarganj upazila and studied at Borohit High School. I also worked at a local brick field,” said Anwar Kadir.
I achieved GPA-5 from Business Studies group in 2007. Mofizunnur Khoka, a teacher of Shaheed Syed Nazrul Islam College in Mymensingh town, who also hails from Iswarganj, arranged Anwar's study at the college. Both Mofizunnur Khoka and college Principal Dr Marufi Khan are overjoyed to hear the news of Anwar's success.
“I am grateful to the teachers and others who helped Anwar to continue study,” said Anwar's mother.
