Acid thrower trapped

The alleged acid thrower who inflicted injuries on two sisters at Ranachandi Dakkhinpara village of the district, was sent to jail on Friday as police produced him before Nilphamari Chief Judicial Magistrate's Court following his arrest the day before.
On June 19, Asaduzzaman Akash, 23, threw acid on Mahmuda Aktar Shimu, 16, and Masuda Aktar Shanto, 24, daughters of primary school teacher Abdul Mannan apparently to avenge Shimu's rejection of his offer for love and marriage.
Asked by police, victim's brother Abdul Latif and father Abdul Mannan told absconding Akash over cell phone that they are now ready to arrange Shimu's marriage with him as none would marry her after the burn injuries on her face.
Akash reached Pirganj bus stand in Rangpur district on the way to Shimu's house in Nilphamari on Thursday evening when police arrested him and brought him to Kishoreganj Police Station.
Akash admitted to police about his direct involvement with the acid throwing incident, said Kishoreganj Police Station Officer-in-Charge Sohel Afzal.
