2 held with 13 voter cards of DU registered graduates
The police arrested two persons along with 13 voter cards of registered graduates of Dhaka University for its senate elections from a coaching centre in the city yesterday.
The arrestees were identified as Fakhrul Alam Patwary, an accounts officer, and Abul Khayer Khan, an office assistance of the University Coaching Centre (UCC) at Farmgate, Tejgoan Police said.
The police also found a list containing the names and addresses of 81 registered voters in the coaching centre.
The police raided the coaching centre following a general diary filed with the police by a registered graduate who received a voter card although he is not a registered voter, sources said.
The voting for the elections to the posts of 25 registered graduate representatives in the DU senate was held at 39 centres outside Dhaka yesterday.
The last phase of the election will be held at two centres in Dhaka on June 7.
