JCD activist held for stabbing RU BCL leader

Police yesterday arrested an activist of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) Rajshahi University unit for his alleged involvement in stabbing a leader of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) on the university campus on Thursday last.
The arrestee is Asish Mahmud, a third year student of marketing department.
A group of youths stabbed BCL RU unit Legal Affairs Secretary Arifuzzaman Roni near Kajla gate while he was returning to the campus riding a motorbike at around 7:00pm. Roni was admitted to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital (RMCH).
After his release from the hospital yesterday morning, Roni filed a case with Motihar Police station against 12 JCD activists including Asish, Rajib, Tusher and Sajib.
Police launched a raid on the campus at around 12:30pm and arrested Asish in front of his department. Rafiqul Islam, officer-incharge (OC) of Motihar Police Station, said they arrested Asish as he is an accused in the case.
