Men's team clinch 47th place
Bangladesh men's team blanked Thailand 4-0 in the 11th and final round of the Open Section on Monday to finish 47th among 154 teams at the 38th Chess Olympiad at Dresden, Germany.
In the last round, Grandmaster Ziaur Rahman beat Saeheng Boonsueb, GM Enamul Hossain Rajib beat Pornariyasombat Atippat, GM Abdullah Al Rakib beat FM Teerapabpaisit Wisuwat and FM Minhazuddin Ahmed Sagar beat Pitirotjirathon Jirapak (Rating-2293).
Sagar also achieved an 8-game IM norm from the event.
Bangladesh men's team earned 13 match points and 25.5 games points with six wins one draw and four losses.
The Bangladesh women's team clinched 74th place among 114 teams after losing 3.5-0.5 to Luxembourg.
WFM Tanima Parveen earned the half-point after a draw with WFM Bakalarz Grazyna while WFM Shamima Akhter Liza, Nazrana Khan Eva and Syeda Shabana Parveen Nipa lost their boards.
They earned 10 match points and 19 game points with five wins and six defeats.
