Sajidul replaces Rasel for Tests
Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) on Saturday named like-for-like replacement for the injured Syed Rasel by calling up left-arm seamer Sajidul Islam.
The 20-year-old Sajidul, who made his Test debut in New Zealand earlier this year, is expected to join the team on Monday ahead of the first Test starting on Wednesday. The swing bowler plays for Barisal in the National Cricket League although he was born in Rangpur and learned his trade in BKSP. Last year, he took 36 wickets and rose to prominence with his early season performance.
The team management had earlier planned to keep Rasel with the team for rehabilitation but finally decided to send the injured left-arm pacer home, who will fly for Dhaka tomorrow. Rasel has been complaining of his old back pain that he had received during Bangladesh A team's tour of England this summer.
Bangladesh team management however got a good news about its premier fast bowler Mashrafe Bin Mortaza, who has also been complaining of back pain for which he has missed the third one-dayer and the ongoing two-day practice match.
With nothing wrong in the scan report, everybody hopes that the pace spearhead would be available for the first Test at Bloemfontein.
