Fresh Move To Reunite BNP
Leaders of both factions meet
About 50 former BNP lawmakers belonging to both the factions -- 'pro-Khaleda' and 'reformist' -- held a meeting at the Nam flat of a pro-Khaleda leader in the city last night to discuss the party's reunification process.
The meeting that began at 9:00pm at the Nam flat of Shah Nurul Kabir Saheen continued up to midnight, meeting sources said.
Meeting sources said that the 'reformist' BNP leaders agreed to work under the leadership of Secretary General Khandaker Delwar Hossain. They are likely to hold talks with him within a few days.
They also agreed to attend BNP's programmes from now on, the sources added.
"We all, whether reformists or Khaleda loyalists, are under the umbrella of BNP and we want to unite again," Nurul Kabir Saheen told a reporter over telephone.
"We sat together over tea and snacks. Let's see what happens," he added.
The former lawmakers who attended the meeting included Selim Reza Habib, Abdul Momin Talukder, Rezaul Bari Dina, Ehsanul Haq Milon, Shamsul Alam Pramanik, Zafrul Islam, Ataur Rahman Angur, Sahiduzzaman Beltu and Nasirul Haq Sabu.
