Shyamnagar BNP leader, 28 others sued

Shyamnagar upazila BNP leader and Iswaripur Union Parishad (UP) chairman Sadekur Rahamn Sadem and 28 others were sued on Thursday for allegedly beating a landowner, damaging his property and occupying his four bighas of land.
Golam Mostafa of Iswaripur village filed the case with Shyamnagar Police Station accusing the UP chairman, his younger brothers Wahab Ali, Dalim, Abdul Halim, Sadekur Rahamn Sadem and others of Banshipur village.
Mostafa said he had been cultivating crops on his four bighas of land at Banshipur mouza for long. All on a sudden, the accused led by UP chairman Sadem attacked and damaged two houses, beat inmates and wiped out planted Aman plants on Wednesday. They also looted away goods worth Tk 40,000 from the houses, he alleged.
When contacted, Shyamnagar Police Station sub-inspector Rasel said Mostafa filed a case. 'An investigation is going on and action will be taken after the investigation', he said.
However, the UP chairman denied the allegations terming Mostafa and his brothers land grabbers.
