N'ganj Nagarik Committee protests Rajuk move

Narayanganj Nagarik Committee yesterday protested the move of Rajuk to sell 20 acres of lands in the town at auction.
At a protest meeting at Chashara Shaheed Minar, it also demanded that the lands be handed over to the municipality immediately.
Speaking at the meeting, Gono Forum President Dr Kamal Hossain warned that any administrative official found involved in activities against the public interest must face trial, as the unity of people is stronger than administrative power.
Municipality Mayor Dr Selina Hayat Ivy and Gono Forum leaders Pankaj Bhattacharya also spoke at the meeting presided over by Nagarik Committee President Advocate AB Siddique.
They announced that the committee will submit a memorandum to the deputy commissioner on August 4 and stage a token hunger strike on August 9 if the demand goes unheeded.
