A court in Chittagong yesterday sentenced 10 people including four brothers to life imprisonment for killing a man over a land dispute in 1996.
The court of 2nd Additional Metropolitan Sessions Judge Ekramul Haque pronounced the verdict in presence of the seven accused.
The convicts are Anwar Hossain, Munir Hossain, Selim Hossain and Zakir Hossain all are brothers, their brother-in-law Rezaul Karim, and five others Mohammad Morshed, Rafique Ahmed, Forkan Ali, Jalal Ahmed and Saber Ahmed.
Of them, Forkan, Jalal and Saber are at large.
According to the prosecution, the convicts stabbed Farid Ahmed to death at Dhopa Para under Double-mooring Police Station in the city on March 23.
Farid's brother Rafiq Ahmed filed a case with the police station concerned on the following day accusing 12 people.
Police submitted the charge sheet on July 13.
Two accused Sultan and Delwar were exempted from the case as they died during the trial.
The judge gave the verdict after examining 13 prosecution witnesses and evidences.
