Mobile phone subscribers reach 3.9 cr in March
The total number of mobile phone subscribers in the country rose to 3.89 crore at the end of March from 3.75 crore in February last.
Telecompaper, a Netherlands-based telecom website, reported the figure on the basis of the latest update from the Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC).
On April 17, the website reported that GrameenPhone was the market leader with 1.78 crore subscribers, up from 1.72 crore subscribers in February, while Orascom Telecom Bangladesh (Banglalink) was in the second place with 83.1 lakh subscribers.
TMIB (Aktel) and Warid Telecom International bagged third and fourth positions with 74.5 lakh and 27.9 lakh subscribers respectively.
Other operators -- PBTL (Citycell) and Teletalk Bangladesh -- remained steady compared to February and reported 15.6 lakh and 10.1 lakh subscribers each respectively.
