Protest against drug use, not women's rights
Finance and Planning Adviser Dr. AB Mirza Azizul Islam yesterday said those who are opposing the proposed policy for women's property rights are doing so without properly realising it. They have resorted to violence to accomplish their political motive.
He was inaugurating a center for cure of drug addicts at Arifpur village in Pabna.
“Those who are protesting against the women policy do not know about it” he said.
Drug addicts are increasing in the country due to various reasons but they (the protesters) do not protest it, he said.
“Taking drug is Haram (forbidden) in Islam but they do not protest against it or come forward to remove it from society”, the advisor said.
Mirza Azizul Islam called upon the people irrespective of classes to build a social movement against drug.
Dr. Sarwar Jahan Fayez chaired the function, also addressed by Director General of Narcotic Department Md. Humayun Kabir, Acting Director of Pabna Mental Hospital Dr. Mahfuzur Rahman.
Earlier, the finance adviser inaugurated Pabna Consumers Co-Operative Society' at Pabna police lines.
Speaking there, the finance adviser said rice prices will come soon as Boro harvest has started.
The government has launched OMS and BDR shops to help the poor, he said.
Price hike of food is now a global problem and raising production is the only way to contain it, he said.
The government procured 32 lakh tonnes of food grains till March, he said.
