Verdict in Ctg 8-murder case today
The court of Second Additional Metropolitan Sessions Judge Ekramul Haq will today pronounce the verdict in the sensational case for killing eight people at Bahodderhat on July 12 in 2000.
Armed criminals of Islami Chhatra Shibir, student wing of Jamaat-e-Islami Bangladesh, stopped a microbus carrying leaders and activists of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) and fired indiscriminately, leaving eight people including six BCL men killed on the spot at Bahodderhat.
The slain were BCL men Helal, Jahangir Hossain, Sohag, Abul Kashem, Jahangir Alam and Babu, microbus driver Monu Mia and auto-rickshaw driver Jahid Hossain.
Kazi Anwar Hossain, elder brother of slain Jahangir Hossain filed a case accusing 30 Shibir activists and the then ASP Abdul Kader Khan of Criminal Investigation Department submitted charge sheet accusing 22 Shibir men on January 18, 2001.
Only three of them, Md Ilias, Mofizul Azam and Alamgir Kabir Siddique alias Manik, are behind bars.
