'Implement Nat'l Women Dev Policy soon'

Women rights activists yesterday demanded steps to implement the National Women Development Policy 2008 immediately.
In a statement yesterday, Samajik Protirodh Committee, a platform of 40 women and human rights organisations, said the policy would help ensure equal rights and status of women in every sphere of life and remove discrimination against women.
The statement signed by Ayesha Khanam also said the women and human rights organisations have long been demanding such a policy and that this policy has fulfilled their demand.
In another statement, Sangjukta Mahila Parishad General Secretary Kazi Rina Reza congratulated the caretaker government for formulating the National Women Development Policy.
She also called for taking effective steps to implement the policy at all levels.
