Amar Ekushey fuels Ctg Gonojagoron Mancha

With the day being International Mother Language Day, the number of people thronging the sit-in, “Gonojagoron Mancha”, before Chittagong Press Club for the 16th day yesterday seemed to swell.
Since morning, people from all walks of life, irrespective of age, sex, class and profession, converged at the venue to express solidarity with the demand for death penalty for war criminals, including Jamaat-e-Islami leader Abdul Quader Mollah.
The demonstration, from 3:00pm to 11:00pm, was abuzz with slogans, patriotic and protest songs, poetry recitations and street dramas paying tribute to Amar Ekushey and over the capital punishment demand.
Initiated by “Samprodayikota Birodhi Torun Udjog, Chittagong” (anti-communal youth initiative), the sit-in paid homage to the Language Movement martyrs and reiterated their resolve to continue the movement till the demand was met.
