Girl gang-raped at tea garden in Moulvibazar

Criminals raped a girl at a tea garden in Kamalganj upazila of Moulvibazar district on Friday night.
The victim, 12, a part-time tea garden worker, went missing in the evening and was found lying in an unconscious state at a garden in the area yesterday afternoon, reports our correspondent.
Family members alleged that criminals forcibly took her to the garden and raped her throughout the night, leaving her seriously injured.
“After a frantic search, we rescued her from the garden in an unconscious state and took her to Srimongal Upazila Health Complex,” they said, adding that the doctors immediately referred her to Moulvibazar Sadar Hospital as her condition deteriorated.
Contacted, Officer-in-Charge Nihar Ranjan Nath, of Kamalganj Police Station said no case in connection with the incident was filed with the police station as of 6:00pm yesterday.
According to our Manikganj correspondent, a man has been sued for his alleged bid to rape a seven-year-old madrasa student at Bara Kaliakoir village in Singair upazila.
Mother of the girl filed a case with Singair Police Station yesterday, accusing Idris Ali, 40, of the village.
Quoting the plaintiff, Officer in-Charge Md Liaqat said Idris took the girl to his house on February 5 when she was playing with other children.
On information, girl's mother rushed to the spot and rescued her daughter when Idris was trying to violate her.
Family members then filed a complaint with village arbitrator Ochhimuddin, but he did not take any action in this regard.
Contacted, Ochhimuddin, however, did not make any comment on the issue.
