Loans given to co-operative farmers in Sirajganj

Cooperative farming can help develop the agriculture sector and contribute to making the country poverty-free.

Abdul Latif Mondal, former secretary of Bangladesh Government and president of Bangladesh Co-operative Bank Ltd, Dhaka, said while addressing as the chief guest at a loan distribution and discussion programme, arranged by Sirajganj District Co-operative Land Mortgage Bank Ltd.
Speakers at the programme said Sirajganj District Co-operative Land Mortgage Bank Ltd has been giving easy loan facilities to the co-operative farmers and helped to make solvent 444 farmers out of its 840 members in the district.
Abdul Latif Mondal handed over a cheque of Tk 4 lakh to Amzad Hossain, president of Sirajganj District Co-operative Land Mortgage Bank Ltd for distribution among 27 farmers as loan to cultivate Boro paddy.
About 200 farmers from different villages in nine upazilas of the district also participated in the discussion programme.
Amzad Hossain, president of Sirajganj District Co-operative Land Mortgage Bank Ltd presided over the programme, while Abul Hossain, DGM of BCBL, Abdur Rob, AGM of BCBL and Ruhul Amin, District Co-operation Officer of Sirajganj District Co-operative Land Mortgage Bank Ltd attended as special guest.
