Mobile courts fine 8 businesses Tk 3.55 lakh
Eight businesses were fined a total of Tk 3.55 lakh in separate drives by mobile courts in the capital yesterday.
The mobile courts, comprising of Dhaka district administration and Bangladesh Standards and Testing Institution (BSTI) officials, also sealed a beverage company and seized cosmetic items in the drives, said a press release of BSTI.
A mobile court, in a drive on Rankin Street, fined Naborupa Fashion Private Limited Tk 1 lakh for selling foreign cosmetics without taking clearance from BSTI and also seized items from the shop.
The court also fined Bhulu Bakery and General Store in the area Tk 5,000 for not using proper measurement scales.
Another mobile court conducted a drive in Gobindapur and Shonir Akhra and fined Islamic Pharmaceutical Private Limited Tk 40,000 for selling food items without renewal of the Certification of Marks licence from BSTI.
It also fined Bhagyakul Mistanno Bhandar in the area Tk 10,000 on similar charge.
Conducting a drive in Azimpur, another court fined Jadob Ghosh and Sons Tk 80,000; Rose Heaven Foods Tk 20,000; and Mouri Foods and Catering Tk 50,000 for selling food items in unhygienic environments.
A mobile court also fined Faith Consumer and Beverage in Purana Paltan Tk 50,000 for producing and selling drinks without BSTI licence. The court also sealed the company.
