United Airways plane makes emergency landing in Ctg
A flight of United Airways with 50 passengers on board made an emergency landing at Hazrat Shah Amanat International Airport in Chittagong yesterday evening.
Officials of the airways said an ATR aircraft made the emergency landing after the pilot detected a technical glitch in one of its two engines. The flight took off from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka around 7:20pm.
As the pilot relayed the message of glitch to the air traffic control room in Chittagong, the airport authority took all preparatory steps to ensure safety landing of the aircraft, Md Kamrul Islam, an assistant general manager of United Airways, told The Daily Star.
The aircraft landed safely at about 8:20pm, ten-minute ahead of its scheduled landing time, he said.
Md Shamsuddoha, station traffic control officer of Shah Amanat International Airport, said there was no casualty as it landed safely.
No technical glitch was found in any of the engines of the aircraft till filing of the report at 10:30pm.
Kamrul of United Airways said they had sent another aircraft to Chittagong from Dhaka to ensure safe return of the passengers.
