RMCH dental unit closed
Authorities of Rajshahi Medical College Hospital (RMCH) yesterday suspended activities of the special dental unit for oral and maxilla-facial surgery study and treatment at the old Sadar Hospital building.
Officials said, the unit that started functioning 53 days ago as an extension of the RMCH dental department, was closed due to 'lack of approval, irregularities and other problems.
Former RMCH director Col. Dr M Zahangir Alam Mollick on December 10 inaugurated the 10-bed unit with three specialised doctors and six nurses.
Present RMCH director Brig. Gen. Khademul Insan M Iqbal said the unit was suffering from 'crisis of patients and lack of facilities from the beginning'.
"We will reopen it soon with more coordination", he said.
There was no official approval for admitting patients at the unit, said RMCH Dental Department Chairman Prof Dr Sirajul Islam Patwari.
