A team of the Department of Environment (DoE) yesterday fined two dyeing industries at Shibpur in Narsingdi Tk 46 lakh for illegally operating the factories and polluting the river Brahmaputra.
The DoE team also directed owners Tanvir Chowdhury of Chowdhury Knitwear Ltd and Khadem Monirul Alam of Greenbangla Homtex Industries Ltd to stop operations of their industries till they installed an effluent treatment plant (ETP).
