Three educationists have been appointed full-time members to University Grants Commission (UGC).
The three who joined the UGC yesterday are Prof M Akhtar Hossain, Prof Abul Hashem and Prof Mohammad Mohabbat Khan, said a press release of UGC.
The government appointed them for a term of four years on Monday.
Welcoming the new members, UGC Chairman Prof AK Azad Chowdhury sought their cooperation to run the UGC successfully to provide the tertiary level of education a boost.
Prior to their new postings, Dr Akhtar was the professor of the department of Surgery and Obstetrics, Bangladesh Agricultural University (BAU) while Dr Hashem of the department of Accounting and Information Systems, Dhaka University (DU) and Dr Mohabbat of department of Public Administration, DU.
Dr Akhtar also served as vice-chancellor of BAU while Dr Hashem as treasurer of DU and Dr Mohabbat as member of Public Service Commission (PSC).
