BNP to stage 2-day demo
The main opposition BNP has decided to stage a two-day demonstration across the country protesting the fresh hike in fuel prices.
Party insiders said the demonstration may start tomorrow or the day after tomorrow.
The decision was made at a meeting of BNP's senior leaders at Chairperson Khaleda Zia's Gulshan office with her in the chair last night.
The details of the meeting decision will be announced today, said meeting sources.
Senior BNP leaders in the meeting also discussed the party's course of action ahead of the Comilla City Corporation elections.
Earlier last month, BNP boycotted the Narayanganj City Corporation polls unhappy with the use of electronic voting machines (EVM) at polling centres.
The Election Commission in the mean time said EVMs will be used in the upcoming Comilla City Corporation elections.
The party leaders at the meeting also discussed the role of pro-BNP lawyers in the ongoing war-crimes trial, where a number of top leaders of party's ally Jamaat-e-Islami are facing war crimes charges.
The meeting also talked about the Dhaka-Khulna road march scheduled for November 26 and 27.
