Parakeets leave Raozan
After staying only five days, all parakeets left Chickdair village in Raozan upazila of Chittagong earlier than the expected time as the local people in the last three years observe that the birds used to stay there for 15-20 days.
No bird was found when this correspondent visited the village yesterday.
Villagers said a 10-year-old boy, Abdur Rahim, son of Selim, of the village caught three birds from a paddy field in the village by wrapping them with his shirt while he went there to cut grass on Sunday.
Later, all the birds left the village that has come there five days ago.
Siddique Ahmed, a youth of the village, suspects that the birds left the village due to catching a few of them by the boy.
The birds usually come in the village during the harvest time for the last three years and stay 15 to 20 days until the harvest is over, said the villagers.
Contacted, Nurul Amin, OC of Raozan Police Station, said he knew nothing about the matter.
Mentionable, for the last few days thousands of red-breasted parakeets astonished the villagers of Chickdair by their appearance in the area.
