Globalisation: A Bipolar Story
“Globalisation: A Bipolar Story”, a two-phase group photography exhibition, is a joint endeavour by Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and Bangladeshi Photographers (BP). The first phase will be held at Dhaka Art Centre from September 9. The purpose of the exhibition is to bring together the works and perspectives of young photographers on burning issues, such as globalisation, from two contrasting corners of the world.
The exhibition will showcase around 60 photographs from both participant countries, of which 30-35 photographs are from Bangladesh.
The exhibition focuses on the widely varied impacts of globalisation -- from economic division and climate change to culture fusion. Students and affiliates from MIT submitted photographs that reflect their perceptions of globalisation. Similarly, photographers from Bangladesh represent their understanding of the same issue.
The first phase is being hosted by Bangladeshi Photographers, while the second will be hosted by MIT at Wiesner Art Gallery, Massachusetts, USA in November, 2011.
The exhibition in Dhaka will continue till September 13.
