Xlibris releases book on intellectual property
A book on licensing and commercialising of intellectual properties, authored by M Rashid Khan, was released yesterday.
Xlibris, a print-on-demand self-publishing services provider, announced the release of the book “Changing the World By Sharing Technology”, the book publishing company said in a statement yesterday.
Licensing of an invaluable process, such as a clean tech, a life-saving drug or breakthrough software, or a product or any intellectual property is often an invisible mode to transfer technology for the good of the world, the statement added.
“It is an avenue of technology relocation that allows the receiving party, an organisation in a domestic or a foreign country, to enjoy an aspect of use, production or distribution right of the intellectual property.”
The author earned a PhD and an MS in energy and fuels engineering from Pennsylvania State University and an MS in environmental engineering from the Oregon State University. He also earned a degree in economics and received additional training in intellectual properties.
Khan served five years with the US Department of Energy and 13 years with Texaco Inc. As a consultant for the Intellectual Assets Management Group of Saudi Aramco, he was instrumental for commercialisation of first series of technologies for the company.
