India yesterday sent a passenger plane to Cairo to evacuate Indian citizens from Egypt due to the ongoing unrest, the government in New Delhi said.
The special Air India flight will return with 300 people, mostly women and children, the ministry of external affairs said in a statement, adding that it had been arranged after requests from Indians living in troubled country.
The plane, belonging the country's state-run carrier, departed yesterday.
