FM Minhazuddin Ahmed Sagar emerged champion in the 8th Amritolal Dey International Rating Chess tournament concluded yesterday in Barisal.
Sagar earned 8.5 points from nine games as he beat Delwar Hossain in the ninth and final round while Firoz Ahmed became runner-up with seven points.
FM Aminul Islam finished third through tie breaking as five players earned 6.5 points. Shafir Ahmed, Debaraj Chatterjee, FM Mohammad Javed and Mahtabuddin Ahmed Robin finished
fourth, fifth, sixth and seventh respectively.
Barisal Chess Club president advocate Enayet Pir Khan distributed prize money among the winners as some 54 players participated in the event in the Swiss-League system competition.
