DCC councillor Chowdhury Alam arrested

Dhaka City Corporation ward councillor and BNP central leader Chowdhury Alam was arrested at the capital's Naya Paltan yesterday.
BNP Assistant Publicity Secretary Emran Saleh Prince told UNB that Chowdhury Alam was arrested around 9:30pm as he was leaving the party's central office at Naya Paltan.
Dhaka City Mayor and BNP Vice-Chairman Sadeque Hossain Khoka condemned the arrest of Alam, terming it a part of the government's heinous repressive policy to curb its opponents.
He demanded immediate release of Alam.
