Film festival begins


A three-day film festival will begin at Captain Abdul Halim Chowdhury Auditorium in Manikganj on June 17.
Shaheed Rafiq Smriti Pathagar, a library in memory of Language Martyr Rafiq Uddin Ahmed, has organised the festival to mark its fifth anniversary.
Morshedul Islam, renowned filmmaker, and Abul Islam Shikdar, principal of Government Women's College in Manikganj, will hold a discussion on 'The impact of films on the younger generation' at 3:00 pm, while "Deepu Number Two", written by Muhammad Zafar Iqbal and directed by Morshedul Islam, will be screened at 5:00 pm on the first day of the festival.
"Hirok Rajar Deshe", written and directed by Satyajit Ray, will be screened at 10:00 am while "Shankhaneel Karagar", written by Humayun Ahmed and directed by Mostafizur Raman, will be screened at 3:00 pm on the second day (June 18).
'Ashani Sanket', written by Bibhutibhushan Bandyopadhyay and directed by Satyajit Ray, will be screened at 10:00 am while "Bari Theke Paliey'", written by Shibram Chakrabarty and directed by Ritwik Ghatak, will be screened at 3:00 pm on the concluding day (June19) of the festival.
