MK Alamgir says he was misquoted

Mohiuddin Khan Alamgir, chief of the public accounts committee (Pac) of parliament, said yesterday some newspapers misquoted him on the Anti-Corruption Commission's serving notice on Latifur Rahman, chief of Tanscom Group.
“ I said at a press briefing yesterday [Monday] that during the past caretaker government's two-year tenure, the Anti-Corruption Commission harassed several entrepreneurs and important business personalities like Transcom Group's chief Latifur Rahman by serving notice on them,” said Alamgir, a ruling Awami League lawmaker.
"But some newspapers either misquoted or misinterpreted what I said," he told this correspondent yesterday.
MUZAFFER REFUTES ALLEGATIONS
Prof Muzaffer Ahmad, chairman of Shushashoner Jannoy Nagorik, yesterday rejected the allegations brought against him by the Pac chief at Monday's press briefing.
In a statement, Muzaffer said he launched two books of former army chief Moyeen U Ahmed but it does not mean he supported the un-elected (caretaker) government.
“Besides, the civil society bodies with which I am linked never supported un-elected government ” he said.
On the alleged transfer of money to his bank account from the funds of the Institute of Business Administration (IBA) of Dhaka University when he was its director, Muzaffer said not a single penny was transferred to his bank account from the IBA.
He also brushed aside allegations of his involvement in taking foreign donations.
"So, I request my student (Mohiuddin Khan Alamgir) to shun discourteous manners and telling lies,” added Muzaffer.
