23 sued on war crime charges in 2 districts

Three separate cases have been filed against 23 people in Kishoreganj and Bagerhat on charge of war crimes in 1971.
A case was filed with Kishoreganj court yesterday against a former army captain on charge of killing during liberation war, reports a correspondent.
Accused Md Nasir,60, is son of late Abdur Razzak Munshi of Moddapara village in Karimganj upazila.
Md Golap Mia, son of Shaid Mia Hossain of Aila village in the upazila filed the case with Judicial Magistrate Court-6 accusing Nasir of killing his father Mia Hossain during liberation war.
According to the prosecution, 'Razaker commander' Nasir along with 4/5 cohorts picked up Mia Hossain from his house and shot him dead beside a nearby pond on November 5, 1971.
Nasir and his cohorts also torched many houses and tortured women with the help of occupation Pakistani army, the complaint alleged.
Magistrate HM Shafiqul Islam accepted the case and ordered Amdadul Huq, officer-in-charge (OC) of Karimganj to take necessary legal steps.
In Bagerhat, two separate cases were filed on Wednesday against 22 people on charges of killing five people at Mongla during the liberation war, reports a correspondent.
Abdul Aziz Sheikh of Dakkhin Chila village and Mridha Mahtabuddin of Bajikarer Khand village under Mongla upazila filed the cases with the court of Senior Judicial Magistrate Md Yabor Hossain's court.
The accused in the cases are two brothers Mridha Nazrul Islam, 65, and Nizamuddin Mridha, 69, of Bajikarer Khanda village, Amjad Fakir, 60, Md Shafi Mridha, 58, of the same village, Moslem Fakir, 75, Rajjab Ali Sarder, 77, of Madurpalta village and Rahim Sheikh,62, of Dhalir Khanda village. The seven have been accused in both the cases.
Besides, 15 others have been accused in one or the other of the two cases.
Plaintiff of a case Abdul Aziz Mridha said on April 12, 1971 the 'rajakars' led by two brothers Nazrul Mridha and Nizam Mridha picked up five people including Aziz Mridha.
He said they later shot four dead while he himself received bullet injury on the back.
Plaintiff of another case Mridha Mahtab Uddin in his case said, the rajakars led by the two brothers caught him and Suraj Mallick of Madurpalta village on April 12, 1971 while they were working in the field of Profulla Bairagi at Bajikar Khanda village.
The accused shot Suraj Mallick dead and injured Mahtab seriously by shooting.
