Marking the end of the Bengali year
For the second time Adorn Publication has arranged a book festival to mark 'Chaitra Shangkranti' (end of the current Bengali year) at Central Public Library premises, Shahbagh. Starting from April 1, the festival will go on till the last day of Bengali year 1416 (April 13).
Writer Biprodas Barua inaugurated the festival on April 1. Writers and poets including Razaur Rahman, Anjan Mahfuz, Maruf Raihan and Rakhal Raha were present at the inaugural programme.
Aside from short stories, novels, plays, poetry, essays, research, travelogues, and memoirs, books available at the festival also highlight economics, politics, philosophy, theology, history and the Liberation War. Books for children and adolescents are also available at the festival. Readers have the opportunity to get up to 60 percent discount on books on the occasion of the festival.
Syed Zakir Hussain of Adorn Publication said, "As Public Library is an important venue for students and literature enthusiasts, we want to provide a bridge between readers and writers through this festival, saying goodbye to the old year and hailing the new Bengali year.”
