3 Computers Missing

Benapole OC stand-released

Benapole border immigration police officer-in-charge (OC) and an assistant sub-inspector (ASI) were stand-released yesterday in connection with the disappearance of computers from the check post office on Monday.
OC Khalilur Rahman and ASI Jamal Uddin were transferred instantly after Benapole BDR recovered three stolen computer sets and Del brand monitors from a bamboo groove at Bhoberber village in the area around at noon.
Constable Liakat and Saidul, who were on duty at the immigration office on the night of the incident, did not report for duty. But no action was taken against them.
The police administration, including different intelligence agencies, started investigation into the matter.
Difference between the OC and junior officers on issues for a long time might be behind the incident.
It is alleged that a gang of some 24 so-called passport agents perform police duty of maintaining important files and computers there. But the authorities did not remove them from the office even after the incident, sources in the immigration office said.
Important information on miscreants and those of passports of the passengers travelling to and from India, was kept in the computers.
